Junior & senior years are the most integral time in a student’s high school career. Classes are tough, college choices are breathing down your student’s neck and schedules are jammed packed with extracurriculars. Somewhere between cram sessions and finding themselves, students must find time to prepare and gather everything needed for standardized testing as well as perfect their college profiles. Through personalized schedules, one on one meetings and easy to implement tools, our planners work with you and your student to maximize efficiency and build confidence.
From the start, we review grades and SAT/ACT test scores to understand the student’s current performance. Students complete a SAT or ACT diagnostic test, and review progress since any previous test. We work with students to create goals for Junior year curriculum, GPA and test prep. Students learn how to leverage their “MyCPC” accounts for research, organization and communication. Students complete self assessments to understand personality type, learning style, multiple intelligences and key college values and criteria. We use these assessments and academic review to develop a suggested list of majors, individual colleges, as well as a college visit itinerary for over the summer and fall.
Moving into the summer prior to their senior year, students prepare a college application list, learn about application types, and create an application timeline. Students begin the essay process, using our one of a kind process to help them write the best essays possible. We work with students on interviews, resumes, and to create a plan for scholarship applications. We meet with parents to review best practices in FAFSA filing form and develop a net college cost report unique to each family’s expected contribution, institutional giving, merit aid and four-year graduation rates. We meet with parents and students to review package offers with regards to financial aid and merit, make recommendations and answer questions.
